Tey are not always following the manga… just like in Naruto.
There when Naruto fought Pain, and was caught in that huge “sand ball”, and the fox released 8 tails, in the manga Naruto’s mother appears, and talks to him, as for the anime series, his father appears, and gives him the strenght to overcome the god damn fox.
So yeah, they are not exactly following the manga, and that’s ok, coz if they were following the manga every step, than the anime won’t have any fans…

KungFu you are so wrong about naruto because they actually did follow the manga it is his dad who comes out his mom comes later dertader….. as much as i want ace to stay in the series i think it is a very important experience that drives luffy to contol his haki and become stronger, and protect his crew from fows that they can’t beat because that is what a captain is…..

i’d hate to agree with everyone, but ace’s death is kinda necessary. Look at the rest of Luffy’s crew. Every single one of them had some sort of traumatic experience that drove them to do their tasks, and Luffy bailed nearly all of them out of their situations. Now he has something that saddens him everytime he thinks about it, which will have the side-affect of bringing him closer to his crew.

Oh boy looks like we’ll be getting some long awaited Mihawk action on in here next time!! Can’t wait.
